Product and Ingredient Information
A whole foods, fresh cooked diet for your dog’s optimum health.
WEST COAST CANINE LIFE ®Premix
is made from 100% human quality, Kosher and organic ingredients containing organic brown rice, organic oats and organic Thai jasmine rice, Acadian sea kelp, ginger, marjoram, parsley, oregano, turmeric, decaffeinated green tea, Shiitake mushrooms, rosemary, and garlic.
WEST COAST CANINE LIFE makes three different Premix blends:
1. REGULAR PREMIX is suitable for most dogs, including those with allergies, skin sensitivities, gluten intolerance, gastrointestinal issues and cancer.
2. CALCIUM FREE PREMIX is suitable for dogs living with kidney/liver issues or have stones or crystals. This is the same formulation as our REGULAR premix, without the addition of calcium. SEE RECIPES. The special recipe provides adjustments specific to your dog’s kidney/liver issues.
3. PUPPY PREMIX is suitable for puppies up to 6 months old. After 6 months of age, puppies can be switched over to the REGULAR PREMIX. This is the same formulation as our REGULAR premix, with additional calcium. The recipe provides adjustments specific to your puppy’s developing needs.
If you are feeding your dog a raw meat and bones diet, and wish to supplement with our cooked diet, we suggest you use our Calcium Free Premix to compliment your dog’s raw meat and bones diet.
A 3.2Kg bag will make 98/90g muffins. Simply mix together 1.5 to 2 lbs of raw ground meat, raw minced vegetables, shredded red apple, egg, pure cranberry juice, safflower or sunflower oil, and filtered water, to 5 cups of our Premix, and bake to produce 22-24 baked meaty muffins or patties. Just crumble the baked food into your dog’s bowl, add a little water, and watch it disappear. See recipes and directions
We suggest that an Omega 3 fatty acid in the form of pure wild Alaskan Sockeye salmon oil be added to the daily diet. The wild salmon oil we suggest and use for our own dogs is gluten free, whole, natural and unrefined, purity and potency certified by the NSF, and certified sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council. The soft gel itself is composed of fish gelatin, glycerin derived from vegetable sources, and purified water, and contains no artificial preservatives, colour, dairy, starch, wheat, yeast, sugar, or soy.
WEST COAST CANINE LIFE ® is a whole foods diet.
Our foods are made with only whole fresh, local, human quality and organic ingredients. WEST COAST CANINE LIFE® Our company is only possible through a legacy of caring, determined dog lover’s who have used their education and passion to create and distribute this unique quality product. Premixes are blended locally, in a small family owned and operated facility on Vancouver Island, BC. We are very proud that we know where every ingredient comes from and how every ingredient is processed. Two independent laboratory analyses were conducted on the original West Coast Canine Life recipe, to ensure alignment with the National Research Council and AAFCO guidelines. The Premix and muffins do not contain meat meals, by-products, digest of by-products, fragments, preservatives of any kind, and further, corn, wheat, soy, and yeast are never found on a WEST COAST CANINE LIFE® ingredient list.
WEST COAST CANINE LIFE ® uses whole fresh organic grains to form part of our Premix
We use certified organic whole brown rice, organic whole oats, and organic whole Jasmine Rice for their special qualities that help support dogs’ health, longevity, and optimum cognitive and physical development and performance. Our carefully selected non-irradiated and organic herbs and spices include alfalfa, carob, Acadian sea kelp, ginger, marjoram, parsley, oregano, turmeric, shiitake mushroom powder, de-caffeinated green tea, rosemary and garlic.
For your dogs’ safety, we use only pharmaceutical grade certified organic and Kosher DiCalcium Phosphate Dihydrate (Formula CaHPO42H20) as our calcium source, as lead has been found in some calcium products made from bone meal. This particular calcium is used in compounding pharmacies around the world. Laboratory assays are readily available for each batch of calcium used. It is this type of dedication to ingredients that sets West Coast Canine Life apart from other types of premixes. The purity of all the ingredients we use in Canine Life is of paramount importance to us, and we are proud to say that in theory, every ingredient we use in our products could be eaten by all your family members. We are very proud that a WEST COAST CANINE LIFE® whole foods diet is also recommended by Spectrum Labs. Veterinarians throughout North America, as well as more than 30 counties around the world, depend on Spectrum Labs for allergy testing.
WEST COAST CANINE LIFE ®
was developed over twenty five years ago, and is not only perfect for most dogs on a regular diet, but also helps to support dogs with special health needs, including cancer, kidney and liver dysfunction, skin sensitivities, allergies, epilepsy, diabetes, and gastrointestinal disorders, including pancreatitis, colitis, inflammatory bowel disease and gluten intolerance. Puppies thrive on our special Puppy Premix, which has been specifically developed for optimum nutrition during the first 6 months of life.
The development of West Coast Canine Life ® Pre-Mix is based on many years of research which includes the nutritional principles and practices of a number of well known and respected individuals, including Juliette de Bairacli Levy and Dr. Randy Kidd. Historic nutritional texts and kennel journals were also studied, as well as work done with Chinese medical doctors and herbalists. Juliette de Bairacli Levy was a world renowned herbalist, author and breeder, who will always be revered as the pioneer of holistic veterinary medicine for companion animals and stable animals. Randy Kidd, DVM, Ph.D., practiced traditional veterinary medicine for 15 years before he began incorporating homeopathy and herbal medicine into his practice. Dr. Kidd’s whole foods approach to herbal medicine makes wonderful common sense. He served as President of the American Holistic Veterinary Medicine Association and is an author and consultant to several pet supplement companies.
Sadly, one out of three dogs, whether pure breed or mixed breed, will be diagnosed with cancer at some time in their lives. That statistic mirrors our very own human one, right here in North America. West Coast Canine Life ® believes that diet plays a significant role in our pets’ health, and feeding a whole foods fresh cooked diet is one positive step we can take towards good health and longevity for our animal companions. We are proud to say that a percentage of the proceeds of all West Coast Canine Life ® products is donated to the University of Guelph’s Smiling Blue Skies ® Cancer Fund. www.smilingblueskies.com. To date, over $1,500.000.00 has been raised by the Smiling Blue Skies ® Cancer Fund.
